In Your Hands You Hold The Life Of A Child
Text Box: Text Box: Nearly 1,000 children ages 3 months to 12 years of the working poor in Loudoun qualify for childcare assistance, yet half won’t receive it.  As these children’s working parents have few, to no reasonable choices for safe and nurturing childcare, many are forced to leave these youngsters in poor, suboptimum situations – or leave the workforce for welfare.

A Loudoun business, the Dulles Toll Road Investors, through their annual “Drive for Charity” have come forward for the fourth year to aid these children and their families by supporting  Fresh Air/Full Care – a Loudoun based all volunteer charity.  This year’s Dulles Toll Road $42,000 contribution brings their total to over $150,000 contributed to sending at-risk Loudoun children to 6 weeks of summer camps and programs.  Together with matching grants from the Loudoun Board of Supervisors, this has assisted more than 350 local youngsters.

Text Box: The funds from Dulles Greenway are being used to assist low income working parents to help pay for the cost of Summer Camp for their children.   Parents whose children are school-age can often afford the cost of before or after school care during the year, but have difficulty affording the cost of full-time camp during the summer months.  More importantly, the children have a safe and enriching experience during the summer months.  At this time, seventy two children have been approved for various camps throughout Loudoun County and are attending an average of almost 7 weeks for each child.
